Ammersee is probably the closest lake to us. We first went there in 2020, when we visited the Andechs monastery and went a bit around the lake, stopping in Dießen and Herrsching. At that time, we were not very taken with it given that it was during covid and there were too many people and lots of places were closed.
In 2023 we went back to the lake and fell in love with Herrsching so we kept going back 🙂
Andechs Monastery
In 2020 we visited this beautiful monastery church, built in 18th century in Rococo style. The interior was created by some of the biggest artists of those times, one of them being Johann Baptist Zimmermann, one of the most prolific and important Baroque artists.
Dießen
In 2023 we visited the Marienmünster church. It is a very beautiful 18th century Baroque church.
Herrsching
Our favourite place on Ammersee. We caught some amazing sunsets there in 2023! It has a lovely promenade and a great restaurant (Seespitz). The Kurparkschlösschen building in the park is very pretty.
