Cordoba

As part of our first trip to the Southern Spain, we also took a day trip to Cordoba. I really liked the place, not only for the very impressive Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita) but also for the lovely streets and small shops around it.

The Great Mosque was constructed in the 8th century when Cordoba was the capital of the Al-Andalus and later expanded over the century. It was converted to a Cathedral in 1236, during the Reconquista. It is an amazing space, where the nave is from the 16th century Renaissance and the sides look like a forest, with many columns and arches.
