The last city we visited during our May 2023 trip through Romania was Timisoara. Timisoara is the place where the 1989 Revolution started, on 16 December.
I did not know what to expect from Timisoara, as I had never been there before. I knew it is a 2023 European Cultural City, saw some photos from it but that was about it. Timisoara actually surprised us a lot. It has a beautiful layout, with 3 main squares flowing from one from another, ample pedestrian zones, lots of cafes and restaurants, lots of events on the streets. It felt lively and welcoming, quite a revelation. We also happened to be there during the visit of the German President, so we saw him when he came to visit the Nikolaus Lenau high school 🙂
