Mittenwald

On our way back from Innsbruck we took the more scenic route passing Mittenwald and Ettal. While I have read a bit about Mittenwald I had no idea what to expect. We were blown away by how pretty the place is. The pedestrian main street is full of painted houses with small shops, cafes and restaurants. There are also many violin workshops around the town. It turns out that Mittenwald has been making violins since the 17th century! The location is superb, right near a snow-covered mountain. Definitely a place to go back to, especially for a hiking holiday.
