Landsberg am Lech

Just about 1 hour away from Munich is Landsberg am Lech, quite a small town that turned out to be another highlight during our October 2020 vacation daytrips.

The town has become an important centre in the 13-14th century, being situated on the salt path coming from Bad Reichenhall. It has quite a few medieval buildings left as well as many town gates. The Bayertor, dating from the 14th century, has been recently restored and looks amazing. The town has a lovely riverside walk and many lovely streets going uphill.

The Lech waterfall is pretty spectacular (though not high) and the riverside is really pretty with places to relax as well as cafes and restaurants.

Here are photos from our first trip in October 2020, and our other trips in 2021 and 2023.
