Chiemsee is the lake we visited most recently, even though it’s quite close to Munich. We stopped by it twice in the past but we were not very impressed as we were on its South side and there wasn’t much of a view 🙂 However, I saw a very cute place in that area, the Seeon Monastery and I thought it’s worth trying out also Seebruck, on the lake’s North side. It was indeed a very good find and we went there twice so far this year.
Seeon Monastery, lake and village
Seebruck on Chiemsee
Quite pretty place, with lovely views over the Alps and a lot of sitting space. The place also goes back to Roman times and there is a museum there of Roman history.
G’steig on Chiemsee
The last time we also went to check out G’steig. That’s the place from where you can take the boat to go the Herrenchiemsee Palace, one of Ludwig II’s palaces. Give that the palace is now closed for visitors, there’s not really much to do there so we did not spend too much time.
