One of the museum we visited so far in Munich is the Alte Pinakothek. In all fairness, the main reason we ended up there was because the Neue Pinakothek is closed and the van Gogh’s sunflowers are now exhibited in the Alte Pinakothek 🙂 This is one of the 4 original sunflowers van Gogh painted in 1888, so it’s pretty important and unique.
However, there are very nice paintings in there and an extremely impressive collection of huge Rubens paintings. They also have one of the biggest Arcimboldo collection I have seen in one place.
Google Art & Culture has created a virtual gallery for the Alte Pinakothek.
The museum staff was on the rude side but it seems to be something that we encounter a lot in museums here….
