Canary Wharf is a very modern yet historical area of London. There is a very good mixture of tall and small buildings, of old and new, of granite and water. The result is quite a peaceful place, if visited during the weekends. There are very often all sorts of events taking place there and interesting art installations. In 2012, I went there to see an Ice Sculptures event. After moving to Greenwich in 2014, we went there many times. In 2014, we saw this beautiful poppy installation. In 2015 the Crossrail roof garden opened, providing a great space to meet, sit, eat or walk . They also started having an annual Winter Lights festival, where we went 3 times, in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
