After seeing lots of photos from Cinque Terre, we decided to visit it. I have to say, with regret, that we only stayed there 3 hours before ‘fleeing’ the area. Unfortunately, the photos from there look much better than being there. The reality is that the villages are overcrowded with tourists and organised tours and the houses are quite run down. We only visited Riomaggiore and Vernazza. Especially Vernazza cannot cope with the waves of people coming, given that it only has a small and narrow main street…
The highlight was going to Porto Venere, which is not really part of Cinque Terre but it is very close and very beautiful.
